We built this house in the summer of 2014 for a client who already owned the property, and the property already had one rental house on it.
The carriage house we built on it is now also a rental house. It's a very efficient and well-laid-out 950 square feet of living space, and it went together very quickly.
The project came in under budget and ahead of schedule, and turned out quite nicely. With carriage houses new to our region, it was also nice to see that the cost per square foot scales down as you reduce the size.
We hired Jeff Boehm to build a carriage house for us. I selected Jeff as I knew from past experience that he was a builder I could work with and one that shared some common values in how he approached building. He did not disappoint us. He approached the project as if it was his own home; he watched the dollars closely, always looking for ways to save money while at the same time giving us sound advice to ensure we got a product we would be happy with and would last. In this case, we wanted to do as much work as possible ourselves to save money. Jeff made us very welcome on site. He is a very good communicator; he answered all our questions and responded almost instantly to anything we brought up.
