We purchased the existing home on a corner lot in central Nanaimo. It qualifies under the new corner lot/carriage house bylaws, and in this case, the existing house becomes the carriage house, which means a full-sized home can be built in the back yard of the existing home (which stays and becomes known as the carriage house). This project is a very creative answer to the challenges of urban planning and density issues. It is a very modern design and we are using it as an opportunity to show that modern styling can be built and still be economical.
